I continue to be drawn to the themes of the cycle of life that center on renewal and rebirth and drawing on contrast between light and dark in my artwork. I recognize that these are “esoteric” conversations but I am musing at the what is described as a “mystery” in a biblical sense.
The creative process compels me to a spirit of surrender, I know who my enemy is and surrender is the process by which we succeed.. As Steven Pressfield put’s it :
“Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the un-lived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance. ” and “The more important a call or action is to our soul’s evolution, the more Resistance we will feel toward pursuing it.”
Surrender allows me to fuse my thoughts into the ultimate source. It is space where our lives are coordinated with God’s plan for us. I let go and let mystery of God take over.
My latest mixed media sculptures depict the vastness of nature inspired by summers trips to Taos, Santa Fe and Sedona. I call the pieces Terraforms- depictions of the desert southwest, where the viewer can have an experience of skyscapes and landscapes that make up the desert and forests of northern Arizona and New Mexico. I add the memories of the ocean of CA, Baja, Hawaii and Alaska coastlines into the works, my time surfing, fishing and diving.
